To Add Spatial Location to a Document

A document's spatial location can be defined as a point, rectangle, or as a polygon. Its network location is defined as a point geometry.

Follow these steps to add spatial location to a document, in AssetWise CONNECT Edition.

  1. Open a document for which you want to add its spatial location.
  2. Select the Map tab.
  3. Select the off network geometry Add option.
    The Add Location dialog appears.
    Note: For documents configured as a polygon geometry, the Add Location dialog displays a third draw option: Use Extent Limits, in which the Network Location is a point geometry.
  4. Do one of the following:

    Select Draw to manually define the shape and location on the map.

    or

    Select Draw rectangle to define a rectangular location on the map.

  5. Select Include Geometry if you want to save point geometry representing the spatial location on the map.
  6. Select Retrieve network locations if you want to save the network location of the selected Network Type.
  7. Enter the Tolerance value for the location, and select the tolerance unit: map units or pixels.
  8. Enter a Description for the location fo the document.
  9. Edit or accept the current Start Date.
  10. Define the actual location on the map by clicking each point (Draw), or dragging to create the desired rectangle (Draw rectangle).
  11. When you are finished, click Save location.
  12. You can view document locations by clicking the Map Layers icon ( ) and then selecting the Active tab. If both location options are saved, both geometries (one representing the spatial location, and one representing the network location appear. For example,
